“Immune health” is used loosely in the health and wellness world.  People use this to describe specific habits that can help your immune system by promoting longevity and overall bodily health.  One of the most recent products that people are promoting to boost health, resiliency, and immunity is CBD oil.

While CBD/Hemp is a “new” product, the medical research community hasn’t had the full support of the government to test its full benefits and exactly how it fully works. However, we have found a plethora of studies on CBD, that show how CBD and other cannabinoids can influence individuals’ immune systems to build resiliency and overall wellness.

A Brief Overview of The Immune System

Every step outside and every surface you touch, you are exposed to an endless amount of bacteria that can have detrimental effects on your body, such as diseases, infections, viruses. More — whats miraculous is if we didn’t have an immune system ultimately our body with development issues, in some cases, if our collection didn’t create the ability to protect itself, we might even die. During these challenges, We want to make sure that your immune system is creating good bacteria and allowing your order to produce protective hormones to counteract harmful antibodies. A good idea of how your immune system works is that our system is like a network of cells, veins, organs, and tissues that work together as a unit to fight potentially harmful cells or bacteria, thus keeping your body and mind healthy and happy. What changes the way your body’s protection against harm is our friends: white blood cells.

If your body is healthy, your body will produce two types of white blood cells: lymphocytes and phagocytes. Lymphocytes – commonly known as T-cells & B-cells, are produced in your body to destroy antigens ( harmful foreign toxins). Lymphocytes also help your body build resiliency to recognized viruses and diseases. It allows your immune system to respond both quickly and appropriately when your body is under attack. Phagocytes are like a sponge that your body produces to absorb and neutralize detected invaders. Phagocytes act as a method t prevent aggressive invaders from cannibalizing cells damaging your body.

The importance of your immune system while you walk through life is just as critical as the food you eat. Your body’s ability to protect itself from these little toxic invaders are crucial to your survival.  Your immunity is 100% responsible for removing cells that are compromising your system and may not be working. What’s incredible about your system is that once one of these cells is detected, your system initiates creates apoptosis. Apoptosis is known for many benefits such as anti-age, immunity, and cellular regeneration. Apoptosis is known to eat away at old or compromised cells and create brand new baby cells that are stronger and more resistant to pathogens.

The Endocannabinoid System and Immune System

The discovery of the long term effects of the endocannabinoid system (ECS) is still relatively new. We are still learning how the endocannabinoid system works in the human body. From our findings, we know that the ECS can be a baseline to establish and maintain homeostasis, as well as the balance between the various endocrine systems in the body. Your body creates endocannabinoids as needed to help modulate or regulate cell function, including the cells in your immune system.

How CBD Affects The Immune System

Earlier, we described studies found that CBD can influence your immune system. To be more specific, studies found CBD has anti-inflammatory properties that may help boost immunity. We found that CBD is similar to functions such as an immunosuppressant and immunomodulator. We found that a ton of studies address CBD’s immunosuppressant effects, but are inconclusive. Here’s a quick breakdown of how CBD has an impact on working as an immunosuppressant:

  • CBD can promote apoptosis, or cellular death and regeneration to recycle and immunize cells.
  • CBD can prevent an increase in cellular growth.
  • CBD acts as an anti-inflammatory, which can reduce the immune system’s inflammatory response. Inflammation is essential to isolate infected areas and prevents pathogens from spreading across your body.
  • CBD can modulate or suppress the function and secretion of cytokines. Cytokines are large groups of proteins secreted by specific cells in your immune system. Their purpose is to signal molecules that regulate your body’s immunity, inflammation, and white blood cell production.
  • CBD can also limit the production of chemokine, which acts as chemoattractants. Chemoattractants lead white blood cells to an area that is infected and allows for the white blood cells to absorb harmful microbes.
  • CBD also can suppress T-cell production and function, ultimately stifling the immune system’s ability to combat pathogenic invaders.

You may be asking yourself; If I am healthy, this sounds like things that I want to avoid. Ultimately, suppressing the immunes systems’ inflammatory response seems bad, as invading bacteria has the potential to spread through the body. You don’t want to promote unnecessary cell regeneration as well as you don’t want to suppress the healthy proteins that give your body the green light to your immune system leading white blood cells directly to infected sites. And you don’t want to hinder your T-cell function and thus hinder your body’s ability to destroy antigens and remember those attackers.

So, is CBD perfect for your immune health?

CBD and Autoimmune Diseases

Because CBD works as an anti-inflammatory and immunosuppressant, it may not be a necessary immune supplement choice for a healthy person. But for those who have an autoimmune disease, CBD can be an excellent choice for therapy or treatment.

What is an autoimmune disease?

An autoimmune disease occurs when the body’s immune system starts to attack healthy cells leaving you with a lower amount of white blood cells. The body begins to eat healthy cells instead of attacking foreign pathogens and antigens. When the body starts to attack healthy cells, tissue, and/or organs, the attacks can occur anywhere on and in the body, and they can often compromise the body’s proper function. In some cases, autoimmune diseases have the potential to be life-threatening.

Scientists, Researchers, and doctors have detected about 80 autoimmune diseases, with more being found with more being identified every year. A few autoimmune diseases include HIV/AIDS, Crohn’s disease, Fibromyalgia, Lupus, Diabetes, Rheumatoid Arthritis, Huntington’s disease, multiple sclerosis, and more.

How CBD can help with autoimmune diseases

In the research above, CBD promotes immunosuppressant and immunomodulation effects in the body. The studies find that CBD contains anti-inflammatory properties that may help protect you from these harmful mini attackers. Inflammation leads to many autoimmune diseases, by taking CBD you can help yourself immunize yourself for harmful inflammation, By protecting yourself from inflammation you provide a safeguard that allows those who have hyperactive immune systems that end up attacking healthy cells.

More research to study needed in the synergetic effect of the immune system, and CBD needs to take place. More studies would lead to the best understanding of the real impacts on CBD and the immune system. But based on the limited amount of research, Our findings conclude that CBD & the immune system work together in a promising.
